BAGS OF HOPE

Bags of Hope: ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Each bag is a one of a kind constructed art piece, assembled using original Liz Hodder fabric, reclaimed fabrics and textiles. Each bag is unique.

These have been designed and developed during the pandemic creating something new out the “the bits” in my studio. The premise is creating an environmentally user friendly bag. Each bag encompasses a vision of Hope for our new future, as all of these pieces are woven together.

There is a Japanese tradition called “Boro” and it speaks to my creative process philosophy, and directly to this series. “Boro”: derived from the Japanese phrase, boroboro- meaning something tattered or repaired, boro refers to the practice of reworking and repairing textiles (often clothes or bedding) through piecing, patching and stitching, in order to extend their use.

For me it is about creating meaning.
